Year 1 Indie I Do Press

On the topic of the year one show, there are a few great reviews, articles, and a radio segment I wanted to share!

- CBC Radio came out to the show to record their segment – listen to that here

- The North Shore News posted their review after attending the January show

- The Globe and Mail wrote this article on Handmade Weddings, with info from our producers

- The Georgia Straight also referenced us in their article on untraditional weddings

- And – one of my fav – the gals at Next Door Diary shot a small video and posted their experience of the show on their site. That video is posted below and linked here!

Indie I Do – Year One

(all photos by the super talented Tracey Heppner)

The first ever Indie I Do show took place January 2009 and was a resounding success! Billed as Vancouver’s first alternative wedding show we brought together over 30 of the area’s local, independent, edgy vendors for an event like no other. We wanted to show that there are alternatives to frilly and white, and whether you’re a totally off beat couple, a same sex pair, or even a tradtional bride looking to add a touch of something different to a more conventional affair that there are options.

All told, we had over 700 people through the doors including a lineup down the block before we opened. The raves and reviews have been tremendous both from vendors and from all of our brides, grooms, and attendees – there is no question that this has been a long time coming in this city.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for an even better year 2!

4 Ways To Get Involved

This show is all about community, and people are asking how they can get involved and help spread the word! Join the Indie I Do revolution – here are just a few of the ways you can get your hands dirty

1. Use your Facebook popularity for the good of all things Indie. Hit up our group and invite your friends to join, or send an invite around for the event itself. Help spread the word! Same goes for blogs and forums – if you think your audience is our audience, pass it on

2. Hook us up with who you know! We are now collecting vendor names for our 2011 show and are working to reach the not-so-common vendors, people who you might not have even thought of when it comes to weddings.

If you know someone (or *are* someone) who would be perfect for the show, point them to our site or drop us a note here and we’ll get in touch. The vendors make the show, and we’re going for an eclectic mix. Let us know who you want to exhibit!

3. Rock the promo old school. Online not your thing? We’ve got paper flyers, too. Let us know how many you need and where you wanted to display them, and we’ll send over a stack

4. Come to the show! What we want most is for you to come to the show! Who do you know who is getting married, or may be getting married soon? This is the must-attend event for everyone looking for something just a touch unique and different for their wedding. Can’t wait to see you!
